Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting and Crafts Festival.

You might miss the notice of the 37th Annual Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting and Crafts Festival.as survey related unless you read the entire article appearing in the Lincoln Courier (IL) .  But in addition to railsplitting and the bluegrass music, a presentation of some of the history of Lincoln as a Land Surveyor is included.

Bob Church will give a 129-slide presentation, "A. Lincoln With Compass and Chain," at 1 p.m. Sunday (September 16).  It is based on a book by the same name, written by Adin Baber. The book is about Lincoln's career as the deputy Sangamon County surveyor, when he lived in New Salem. Church is the executive director of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association.

The concert will start at 6 p.m. Friday (September 14) in Scully Park in Lincoln, IL.  Leftover Biscutz, featuring musicians from Lincoln, Hopedale, Pekin and Canton, will take the stage from 6 to 8 p.m. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted.
